Division STEP Competition 2009
The Division of Calamba City "STEP" competition was held at Kapayapaan National High School on October 16, 2009. The E. Barretto Sr. NHS joined in 5 categories: Hat weaving, Cake decoration, disk gardening, electronic Poster Making and Electronic Bookeeping.
Among the 5 entries of the school, only 2 came home with awards. The school garnered 2nd place in Electronic Poster Making Contest. Von L. Natividad (III- A) brought home the silver medal. Mr. Richard M. Lopez, the school computer teacher served as the coach On the other hand, Miss Mary Grace Dimapilis is the coach of Axel Guillermo ( IV- A) in Electronic Bookeeping. Axel won 3rd place and brought home the Bronze medal . Axel Guillermo were trained by Miss Myra Apigo, the school bookeeper.

Division School Press Conference 2009
The Division School Paper Press Conference of th Division of Calamba was held at Real Elementary School on Oct. 7- 9, 2009. The E. Barretto Sr. NHS staff joined the conference both in Filipino and in English. The editorial staff of both papers were led by their very able advisers. Mrs. Teodora M. Capulong for English ( The Libbit) and Mrs. Heidi C. Lantacon for Filipino (Ang Libbit)
The school again received several awards and some of her staff were qualified to join the Regional School Paper Press Conference.
In Filipino papers, Jovelyn Patiga won 4th place in Pagsulat ng Lathalain; Cedrick Javier won 5th place in Cartooning and Jennifer Brozola got 6th place in Balitang Isports. The papers also brought home several awards. The paper garnered 3rd place in Editorial page; 5th in Sports page; 5th in News page; 6th in Pag-aanyo ng Pahina and 9th in Pahinang Lathalain. With these awards, the Ang Libbit won 5th place in Over- all Best Newspapers. Mrs. Lantacon deserves congratulations from the school community because of the laurels and honors she and her staff brought to our school. This is the second year that Mrs. Lantacon served as school paper adviser of Ang Libbit.
In the English category led by Mrs. Teodora M. Capulong, the The Libbit staff garnered the following awards:
Arjie Sevilla of IV- A won First place in Newswriting competition
Dale Ranzy Isole won Third place in Sportswriting
Sebastian Clarence Repomanta garnered Sixth place in Editorial Cartooning
Bryan Anthony Sario won 7th place in both Photo Journalism and Lay Outing categories
The Libbit also brought home major awards- First place in News Page; First place in Editorial Page; Fourth Place in Sports Page; Sixth Place in both Feature Page and Lay Out and Page Design categories. Special mention for Ramona Marcelo for garnering 2nd place in
Broadcasting- English medium (Best Infomercial) To bag them all, The school English newspapers won Third Place in the Over All Best School Papers for SY 2009- 2010.
To all members of the editorial staff of the both Ang Libbit and The Libbit, CONGRATULATIONS for a job well done. Because of your talents, skills and sacrifices, the glorious name of our school is consistently rising year after year in the field of campus journalism.
For those who will represent the Division of Calamba City in the incoming Regional School Press Conference, GOOD LUCK to all of you. With our prayer, we wish that you can lift our Calamba City Division into the magic three position.

Result of the Year-End Achievement Tests 2007- 2008
The E. Barretto Sr. NHS ranked 9th in the SY 2007- 2008 Year end achievement test. The school's average MPS 52.85 which higher than last school year. Specifically, Edukasyong Pagpapahalaga got the highest MPS at 74.12. It was followed by Araling Panlipunan with 67. 07 and Filipinop at 60.70. Technology and Home Economics scored 51.26 while English got 48.48. It was followed by Mathematics, MAPEH and Science with 44.97, 39.26 and 36.92 MPS's in proper order.
Although, there are significant increase in the MPS of the different subject area, the school's year end performance ell short of the 75.00 MPS target. The mean MPS of 52.85 indicates that only 50% of the total expectation was reached. It only mean that the school community must strive more to serve her studentry. The teachers, parents and the Principal must work harder to ensure that the education target of 75% MPS can be achieved.
